Kindergarten Homework

*Parents please check your child's backpack every day for notes and specific homework assignments.
 
Kinders Should Always:
  • Have a good night's sleep
  • Eat a nutritious breakfast
  • Learn to write his/her name with upper and lower case letters
  • Learn his/her phone number
  • Practice tying shoes
  • Learn to put straws in drink boxes
  • Work on Fine Motor Skill Activities (play with Playdough, build with Legos, color, cut paper, draw...)
  • READ A STORY TO YOUR CHILD EVERY DAY.
Weekly Homework Packet
  • Weekly Homework Packets are due on Mondays.  New Weekly Homework Packets will be sent home on Mondays.
  • Weekly Homework Packet will include 1) Weekly homework choices handout,  2) "letter of the week" handwriting practice, and 3) RAH
  • Children will need an adult to help read them the directions for the homework.
  • Complete homework in pencil.
  • Parents please check and sign your child's homework.

Read At Home (RAH) sheet
  • Due Mondays
  • Read a book to your child every day and record the name of the book on the RAH sheet.
  • Have child bring completed RAH sheet in "Homework Folder" on Mondays.
  • If you have misplaced your RAH sheet, you may record the books on any sheet of paper and turn it in.  

Red Book Bag (Starts in November)
  • Due Mondays
  • Read the book inside the red bag to your child a few times during the week.
  • In the journal, have child draw picture of character(s) from story, or favorite event in the story.
  • Discuss the character(s) in the story with your child.  Is the character nice, brave, smart, mean...?  Parents can write response for child, or child can write response.  Response should be at least 2 sentences.
